Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to plan a trip to Këlcyrë on this site, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.

Our target

The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, in all six languages and in all four of its color palettes. We believe it meets that level, except for the limitations listed below.

How we test

  • Automated checks with axe-core on every kind of page (home, tours, destinations, places, local businesses, stories, the map, trip planning, legal pages and this one), in all six languages and all four color palettes, on desktop and phone screens. They run automatically every time the website’s code changes, and a new problem is fixed before release.
  • Text on photographs is measured separately, pixel by pixel, because automated checkers cannot judge it.
  • A manual pass with the keyboard alone: visible focus, a logical order, the “Skip to content” link and no keyboard traps, on the map and its list too.
  • Screen reader labels and page landmarks on every page.
  • Zoom to 200% and a 320-pixel-wide window, with nothing cut off and no sideways scrolling.
  • Reduced motion: with that system setting on, nothing moves by itself and the map changes view without animating.

Known limitations

  • The map is visual. Everything on it is also in the list beside it (below it on phones), and every place has its own page.
  • Map labels come from OpenStreetMap and are drawn into the map image in the local language, so a screen reader cannot read them and they do not grow with the text size. Every place on the map is in the list by name.
  • The booking forms use Cloudflare Turnstile against spam. It usually runs unseen; if it asks for a check you cannot complete, write to us or use WhatsApp instead.
  • Links to WhatsApp, Google Maps and social media open services we do not control.
  • Photo descriptions are written by the site’s editors. If one is missing or unhelpful, please tell us.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another form, tell us which page and what went wrong. We will reply, and fix it or find another way to get you what you need.
