Lace up your boots and follow ancient shepherds’ trails into the Nemërçka mountains above Kelcyra. This guided hike takes you high above the Vjosa Valley, where the views stretch from the winding river gorge below to the rugged peaks of Trebeshinë on the opposite side.

Your guide leads you along well-worn paths through oak and pine forests, past seasonal wildflower meadows, and up to rocky overlooks where you can see the full sweep of the Kelcyra Gorge — one of the most dramatic natural formations in southern Albania.

Along the way, you’ll pass remnants of old stone shelters used by shepherds for centuries, and your guide will point out native plants used in traditional Albanian medicine and cooking. Keep an eye out for eagles circling above the ridgeline — they’re a common sight at these elevations.

The trail is moderate in difficulty with some uphill sections, but no technical climbing is involved. The pace is relaxed, with plenty of stops for photos, water, and taking in the silence of the mountains.

Sturdy footwear is required. The rest — just bring your sense of adventure.
